Organic veggies from my Haiku garden
What to do with too much of a good thing? The pole beans in our little Haiku vegetable garden are prolific and need picking every day or two. Even in November these purple long beans and rattlesnake beans are good producers. The kale just won’t go away – I grow it because it’s easy and comes up in the mesclun mix, and then it ends up growing for months. Not our favorite green vegetable but I’ll cook it with bacon and onions and it’s pretty good. We can only eat so much. There’s usually extra to give away. What do you do with kale?
I was on my way to visit a client who just moved into her new home on Maui, a condo in Kahului. I asked her if she’d like some fresh veggies – beans, kale, beets. She was happy to have the beans and beets, but passed on the kale. I can’t give that stuff away! LOL
