First day at the new Kihei Charter School

The Kihei Charter School gets a new location and a brand new building, located up at the Maui Research and Technology Park. The first day of school was this week, on Tuesday October 23rd, and everyone was so excited to attend opening day.

The school was founded in 2001 and was housed in various locations in Kihei, and not all the grades were together.  As things progressed, plans were made to build a facility where everyone can be in the same location.

The $18.6 million campus was made possible by a loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program.  While still under construction now, all classrooms are expected to be completed in a few more months, to service all 750 students.
