Kihei Maui gets hit with Kona rains in December – major mud cleanup needed

The Hawaiian Islands got hit with a big tropical “Kona Low” storm over this December weekend and Kihei sustained some serious flooding at the north end of South Kihei Road.  Lots of mud was washed down and inundated the area of condos and other buildings, as you can see in this video.  A disaster was declared for Maui, and clean up will be ongoing for a while.  The island also experienced many interruptions in electrical power and water supply due to broken water lines.
