Hawaiian Canoe Club
This club was started in 1960 with the aim to perpetuate the art of outrigger canoe paddling here in the islands. Traditional Hawaiian cultural values are a big part of the mission, which welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds, and especially the keiki (kids).
Whether it’s racing, long distance paddling, or just recreational paddling without competition, you can find support here with various programs. Kids will love the healthy activity and personal attention while learning about teamwork and traditions.
You’ll find the canoes and clubhouse right at the Kahului Harbor, at Ho’aloha Park which is between First Hawaiian Bank and the Maui Seaside Hotel. The oceanfront park is 2 acres, with showers and picnic tables, and very pretty views. Plenty of free parking including ADA!
The 2023 season starts this spring, with the first races scheduled for April 1 and continuing into mid September. Registration is open now for returning members and new participants. Check out their website for more information.
